The Tyler Myers<\/a> trade saga has come to an end.<\/p>\n

The Vancouver Canucks<\/a> are trading the veteran defenceman to the Dallas Stars<\/a> for a second-round pick in 2027 and a fourth-round pick in 2029. The Canucks will also retain 50 per cent of Myers\u2019 $3 million cap hit through next season.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0trade comes a week after the Canucks first scratched Myers from their lineup last Wednesday for roster management reasons after asking him to consider a trade to the\u00a0Detroit Red Wings<\/a>. He had not played since.<\/p>\n

A native of Houston, Myers has a full no-move clause and controlled his destiny in trade talks.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to thank Tyler for all that he has done for the Canucks organization both on and off the ice,\u201d general manager Patrik Allvin said. \u201cNot only was he a leader in our locker room, but he also did a lot of great work in the community. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe also appreciate Tyler and his agent working with us to get this deal done. Acquiring two more draft picks in this trade with the Stars will help us continue to rebuild and improve our roster in the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks<\/a>\u00a0have\u00a0acquired\u00a0a\u00a0second-round\u00a0pick in the 2027 NHL Draft\u00a0and a\u00a0fourth-round pick in the\u00a02029 NHL Draft\u00a0from the\u00a0Dallas Stars\u00a0in exchange for D Tyler Myers (50% salary retained).<\/p>\n

He has appeared in 57 games this season for the Canucks and has a goal with seven assists.<\/p>\n

\u201cTyler is a veteran defenseman that will immediately add to our group,\u201d Stars general manager Jim Nill said. \u201cHis ability to play on the right side will give us an added element of flexibility on the blueline. We would like to welcome Tyler and his family to Dallas.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old was in his seventh season with Vancouver after joining the team as a free agent in 2019. He is currently playing on a three-year deal that will expire after next season. <\/p>\n

The Canucks, who are expected to be sellers on more players leading up to the trade deadline, have one salary retention spot left after retaining Ilya Mikheyev<\/a> in a trade to the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> in 2024.<\/p>\n
