\u00a0The Ottawa Senators<\/a> have been in the market to land a top-four right-shot defenseman. But the market is shrinking. A few have gone off the board (or potentially are off the board), including MacKenzie Weegar, who was at the top of the Senators’ list. Colton Parayko is still weighing whether to waive his no-move clause for a trade to the Buffalo Sabres<\/a>, while Connor Murphy & Tyler Myers have also been dealt.\u00a0<\/p>\n

According to Bruce Garrioch in the Ottawa Citizen<\/a>, “League sources say (GM Steve) Staios and the Senators have spoken to every team that has a right-shot defenceman available to check the asking price.”<\/p>\n

Who would the Sens be willing to put on the table in any trades?\u00a0<\/p>\n

Garrioch lists six players who could be on the move off the Ottawa roster, if they’re able to swing a deal:<\/p>\n

“League executives say three names to keep an eye on in Ottawa this deadline are forwards Fabian Zetterlund and Stephen Halliday, along with veteran defenceman Nick Jensen.”<\/p>\n

The 35-year-old Jensen is a pending UFA, and Garrioch says that it looks like he will certainly be the odd man out in any deal for a right-shot D. “You could envision a scenario where he\u2019s part of that trade if it happens.” Jensen owns a $4.05 million cap hit.<\/p>\n

Zetterlund, acquired just a year ago by the Sens,\u00a0is in Year 1 of a three-year deal with a $4.275 million AAV, while Halliday, 23, is just getting his feet wet at the NHL level, playing about 8 minutes a night in 28 games. He’s finishing up his entry-level contract.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But wait, there’s more. Garrioch also lists three other pending UFAs whom the Sens have been taking calls on, and must be considered movable if needed:<\/p>\n

Nick CousinsClaude GirouxLars Eller<\/p>\n

Of that group, he suggests that Eller is the most likely to go. Both Giroux and Cousins would like to stay.\u00a0<\/p>\n
