Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon has \u201cagreed to sell\u201d 12.5% of the team at a $2.66B valuation to \u201cthree minority partners,\u201d though they were not identified. Dundon bought the Trail Blazers last August for $4.2B<\/a> and there have been \u201cunsubstantiated reports\u201d the past few months of him looking to sell off part of the Hurricanes to help finance the NBA purchase<\/a>. Dundon became majority owner of the Hurricanes in January 2018, buying 52% of the team for $420M. The latest sale agreement and the size of the valuation \u201cfurther underscores how valuable major league sports franchises have become.\u201d Sportico<\/a> was first to report news of the stake sale (Raleigh NEWS & OBSERVER, 3\/5<\/a>).
