{"id":489662,"date":"2026-03-06T19:34:17","date_gmt":"2026-03-06T19:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/489662\/"},"modified":"2026-03-06T19:34:17","modified_gmt":"2026-03-06T19:34:17","slug":"san-jose-sharks-trade-timothy-liljegren-to-washington-capitals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/489662\/","title":{"rendered":"San Jose Sharks trade Timothy Liljegren to Washington Capitals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN JOSE \u2014 The San Jose Sharks are trading defenseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/sharks\/player\/timothy-liljegren-8480043\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Timothy Liljegren<\/a> to the Washington Capitals,<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/reporterchris\/status\/2029996555646730412?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\"> TSN\u2019s Chris Johnston<\/a> reported Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p>It was not immediately clear what the Sharks were getting in return.<\/p>\n<p>Liljegren, 26, is in the final year of a<a href=\"https:\/\/puckpedia.com\/player\/timothy-liljegren\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> two-year, $6 million contract<\/a> he signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in June 2024. He was acquired by the Sharks from the Leafs on Oct. 30, 2024, for a 2025 third-round draft pick, a 2026 sixth-round draft pick, and veteran defenseman Matt Benning.<\/p>\n<p>In 110 games with the Sharks,<a href=\"http:\/\/October 30, 2024: Traded by the Toronto Maple Leafs to the San Jose Sharks for 3rd round draft pick in 2025 , 6th round draft pick in 2026 and Matt Benning.\"> Liljegren had 21 points<\/a> and averaged just under 20 minutes of ice time per game.
