The team was working on contract extensions with both players, according to The Athletic.<\/p>\n\u201cWe want to continue to try to make our team better,\u201d Florida GM Bill Zito said Friday. \u201cWe talked to agents for the (undrafted free agents), and we\u2019ll continue to do so. We want to continue to try to sign our players, and we want to continue to try to make this team better and help our coaches and players and to win, ultimately.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Bobrovsky, Zito said: \u201cSergei is a part of our franchise, part of our core, and we want to try to keep him. I think with almost any player, you always \u2014 and I say this a lot, right \u2014 you always listen. When the phone rings, you answer because you don\u2019t know what could happen. And at the end of the day, we want to keep trying to get them signed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bobrovsky has struggled this season. After being a crucial part of Florida\u2019s two Stanley Cup championships, he has\u00a0an .873 save percentage, which is the lowest of his career and the only time as a Panther that number has slipped below .900. He has a 3.13 goals against average, which is the second-highest of his career behind only his first season with Florida.<\/p>\n
\u201cPerhaps his stats are lower, but I\u2019m not sure that \u2018decline\u2019 is the word I\u2019d use,\u201d Zito said. \u201cI think he\u2019s fine. He\u2019s had a hell of a workload. He\u2019s a consummate professional, and I want Sergei to stay and I\u2019m looking forward to having him back.\u201d<\/p>\n
Florida also held onto Greer, a veteran center who is in the second year of a two-year contract. He has 11 goals and 11 assists with a +8 plus-minus rating.<\/p>\n
Hinostroza comes to Florida with 11 years of NHL experience. The 31-year-old has played in 460 NHL games and had a stint with the Panthers in 2020-21 (he played nine games with Florida that season). Hinostroza, a center, has 62 goals and 101 assists in his career.<\/p>\n
This season, Hinostroza has three goals and seven assists in 48 games. He has a -8 plus-minus.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s got a lot of speed,\u201d Zito said. \u201cHe\u2019s got some skill and plays hard. He\u2019s kind of a jack of all trades. Not dissimilar from (Evan Rodrigues). I think Vinny could play center. He could play wing. He could jump around the lineup and he\u2019s fast and he\u2019s been here before. So that one was pretty seamless.\u201d<\/p>\n
Reinhardt, a winger, has played 62 NHL games across three seasons. This year, he has played 44 games with three goals and four assists. He has a -6 plus-minus.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe kind of can fit in almost anywhere,\u201d Zito said. \u201cHe\u2019s in a good organization. He\u2019s got another year on his deal, so we know we can hold onto him and keep him.
