The Calgary Flames<\/a> have traded forward Nazem Kadri<\/a> and a 2027 fourth-round pick to the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> in exchange for a 2028 conditional first-round pick, a 2027 conditional second-round selection, forward Victor Olofsson<\/a> and prospect centre Max Curran.<\/p>\n

The Flames will retain 20 per cent on Kadri as part of the deal. <\/p>\n

According to TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger, the Flames and Avs had conversations previously surrounding Kadri and revisited things on Friday.<\/p>\n

Kadri, 35, has 12 goals and 41 points in 61 games with the Flames this season.<\/p>\n

He played three seasons with the Avs from 2019 to 2022, helping the Avalanche win their first Stanley Cup in 21 years in 2022, recording seven goals and 15 points during the playoff run.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot centre is on the fourth season of a seven-year, $49 million contract that carries an annual cap hit of $7 million. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2028-29 campaign.<\/p>\n

Drafted seventh overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> in 2009, Kadri has 319 goals and 751 points, in 1,046 career games split between the Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche<\/a> and Flames.<\/p>\n

He represented the Avalanche and Flames at the 2022 and 2023 NHL All-Star Games, respectively.<\/p>\n

The London, Ont., native represented Canada at the 2014 World Hockey Championship in a fifth-place finish.<\/p>\n

Flames add Strome<\/p>\n

Earlier on Friday, Calgary acquired forward Ryan Strome<\/a> from the Anaheim Ducks<\/a> in exchange for a fourth-round pick.<\/p>\n

Strome, 32, has struggled to stay in the Ducks\u2019 lineup this season, recording three goals and nine points in 33 games.<\/p>\n

The 32-year-old posted 41 points exactly in each of the past three seasons with the Ducks, having joined the team as a free agent in 2022.<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-1 centre is on the fourth season of a five-year, $25 million contract that carries an annual cap hit of $5 million.
