SEATTLE – The Seattle Kraken signed captain Jordan Eberle to a two-year, $5.5 million contract extension ahead of Friday’s NHL trade deadline.<\/p>\n
Eberle, who turned 36 later this month, is the Kraken’s leading scorer this season with 42 points on 22 goals and 20 assists in 59 games played.<\/p>\n

“We’re very excited,” general manager Jason Botterill said on Friday. “Obviously, when you have an opportunity to sign your captain for another two years, your leading scorer, a player that exemplifies so much that the Seattle Kraken are about, you know, we are just ecstatic to have Jordan part of our organization for two more years.”<\/p>\n
Eberle’s 22 goals are already the most of his five seasons with the Kraken, bouncing back from a serious injury to his pelvis last season that forced him to miss half of the season. While he’s unlikely to match his career-high of 34 goals as a 21-year-old with Edmonton in 2011-12, Eberle could surpass the 28 goals he had in 2013-14 for the second-most of his career.<\/p>\n
“He’s a great leader for our young players,” Botterill said. “I think even with the injury last year, he’s taken his focus on training to another level, and then you look at his on-ice production, he continues to help us win, and has put us in a playoff position here right now. So excited for that.”<\/p>\n
Eberle ranks second in goals (89), and third in assists (130) and points (219) in Kraken franchise history, serving as an integral part of Seattle’s first seasons in the NHL. Eberle also had 11 points on six goals and five assists in 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Kraken, including the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 4 of the team’s first-round victory over the Colorado Avalanche in 2022-23.<\/p>\n

“For the most part, it’s always been that I wanted to stay here,” Eberle said on Friday after signing the deal. “I think I’ve expressed that my family, myself, we love the city of Seattle. The ownership group, everything, the commitment that they have to winning. I’ve just been on board.<\/p>\n
“I mean, my kids, not only do I get to bring them on the ice here, but they’re in the junior Kraken program too. So a lot of the days I get a chance to just finish practice and go watch them. I think that’s been pretty fun. I mean, two of my kids have been born here. It’s kind of just become our home, really.”<\/p>\n
