The day has arrived. It\u2019s been 1,351 days since Kadri last played for the Colorado Avalanche \u2014 the night they won the Stanley Cup in Tampa Bay. This afternoon, Kadri returns to the lineup as the Avs take on the Minnesota Wild less than 48 hours after trading for him.<\/p>\n
If the game feels extra early, it\u2019s because it is. Colorado and Minnesota will drop the puck just after 12 p.m. local time, which in itself is an early game. Mix in the fact that the game begins nine hours after daylight savings, without even a day to readjust to the time change, and you\u2019re basically looking at an 11 a.m. start in terms of the players\u2019 biological clocks.<\/p>\n
The Avs included a 2028 conditional first-round draft pick in the trade for Kadri. This came a day after they traded a conditional 2027 first-round pick to Toronto for Nic Roy. The conditions in the Roy deal are simple. It\u2019s top-10 protected and gets pushed to 2028 if Colorado somehow collapses next season and falls into the bottom 10 of the league.<\/p>\n
