It is definitely a bittersweet but exciting time to be a Calgary Flames fan. The biggest storyline dominating the conversation this week is the undeniable reality that general manager Craig Conroy has officially hit the \u201crebuild\u201d button.<\/p>\n

The Post-Trade Deadline Rebuild<\/p>\n

The March 6 NHL Trade Deadline fundamentally altered the future of the franchise<\/a>. After a tough season, the Flames fully committed to selling, moving out core veterans to stockpile a massive amount of draft capital and prospects.<\/p>\n

The Departure of Fan Favourites<\/p>\n

The Flames traded star center Nazem Kadri<\/a> back to the Colorado Avalanche and sent top defenceman MacKenzie Weegar to the playoff-bound Utah Mammoth. This follows the earlier blockbuster that sent Rasmus Andersson to the Vegas Golden Knights.<\/p>\n

A Historic Draft Arsenal<\/p>\n

Flames Upcoming Schedule<\/p>\n

The outlook for the upcoming week is tough but character-building. The Flames are packing their bags for a grueling five-game Eastern Conference road trip. Victor Olofsson is expected to join the team for this trip. This stretch will be a massive test for the younger players and recent American Hockey League (AHL) call-ups who are being asked to step into the massive shoes left by Kadri and Weegar.<\/p>\n
