Winnipeg Jets centre Mark Scheifele has been named the NHL\u2019s first star of the week<\/a> ending March 8.<\/p>\n

The 32 year old potted three goals and added five assists for eight points in three games as the Jets went 3-0-0 to get back to .500 on the season. <\/p>\n

He scored the overtime winner<\/a> in the 3-2 comeback victory over Chicago Blackhawks on March 3 as part of a three-point night, had a goal and an assist in the 4-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 5, and recorded one goal and two assists in the 3-2 overtime win over the Vancouver Canucks on March 7.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Jets alternate captain leads the team in goals (30), assists (48), and points (78) in 62 games. He is on pace to set a new career high in points and also on pace to be the first Jet in the 2.0 era to record 100 points in a season.<\/p>\n

The Jets are back in action Tuesday, March 10 when they host the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth game of an eight-game homestand at Canada Life Centre.<\/p>\n
