We\u2019ve heard a ton of trade rumors<\/a> swirling around the Minnesota Wild in recent weeks. But over the past few days<\/a>, president of hockey operations Bill Guerin has been putting plans into action<\/a>, making multiple moves leading up to the 2 p.m. CST NHL trade deadline later today.<\/p>\n Billy has yet to deliver<\/a> his second blockbuster of the 2025-26 season, after trading for<\/a> superstar defenseman Quinn Hughes back in December. This week, however, Minnesota\u2019s bottom lines have been completely reshaped.<\/p>\n Earlier Friday, Guerin\u2019s wheeling and dealing continued for the third-straight day, when Minnesota officially gave up on the David Jiricek experiment by trading the 20-year-old trade bust<\/a> to Detroit in exchange for<\/a> 24-year-old \u201cone of us\u201d wing, Bobby Brink.<\/p>\n Minnesota Wild trade for Nick Foligno<\/p>\n From there, Billy quickly turned his attention to uniting two brothers in a MN Wild sweater. Unfortunately, it\u2019s not the Hughes brothers<\/a>. Instead, the Wild are sending cash considerations \u2014 or per Michael Russo (The Athletic)<\/a>: \u201caka nothing\u201d \u2014 to Chicago, in exchange for Marcus Foligno\u2019s older brother, Nick Foligno.<\/p>\n The Wild are trading for Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno, where he can play with his brother Marcus per sources. <\/p>\n This is Chicago doing their captain a solid to chase a Cup. Nick\u2019s 37 points (17 goals, 20 assists) in 2023-24 (his first season in Chicago) were the most points he\u2019s scored since 2016-17.<\/p>\n Last year, Foligno followed up with 35 more points. Unfortunately, a November hand injury has limited Nick to just 37 games this season. Combine that with his decrease in ice time (15:55 \u2013> 12:48), and it\u2019s no surprise he has managed just 3 goals and 8 assists so far this season.<\/p>\n Related: <\/p>\n But what Nick Foligno will really bring to the Minnesota Wild cannot be measured by goals or assists.
