LAS VEGAS (KTNV) \u2014 Before establishing himself as a steady presence on the Vegas Golden Knights\u2019 blue line, Ben Hutton once had to prove himself in a very different arena: a rookie lip-sync battle.<\/p>\n

The moment came early in Hutton\u2019s NHL career while he was with the Canucks.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, that was a rookie kind of initiation thing that I had to do in Vancouver,\u201d Hutton said. \u201cWe all had to do like a lip-syncing battle.\u201d<\/p>\n
Hutton said his song choice \u2014 Aqua\u2019s \u201cBarbie Girl\u201d \u2014 was a spontaneous decision made moments before taking the stage.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be honest, I swear I never even had the song picked out heading into it,\u201d Hutton said. \u201cI might have had like a beer or two in the back and just said, \u2018Alright, give me Barbie Girl and I\u2019m gonna be able to nail it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The performance was memorable enough that the video has continued to circulate online over the years.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen we went up on stage and did our battle and \u2014 yeah, I mean I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve seen the video,\u201d Hutton said. \u201cThe rest is history.\u201d<\/p>\n
And according to Hutton, the performance didn\u2019t just earn laughs \u2014 it also earned a win.<\/p>\n
\u201cI did win,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
If another lip-sync showdown were to happen today, Hutton already has a teammate in mind to join him.<\/p>\n
\u201cPut me on the spot,\u201d Hutton said. \u201cI\u2019d probably go with Aiden Hill.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for the song choice this time around, Hutton said they would likely lean into another classic pop group.<\/p>\n
