The Edmonton Oilers<\/a> got a goal from star Connor McDavid in the third period Tuesday to earn a 4-3 victory over the NHL-leading Colorado Avalanche<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The defeat ended a five-game winning streak for the Avalanche, whose 95 points are still five more than their closest competitor.<\/p>\n

But Colorado head coach Jared Bednar wasn\u2019t thinking about the standings after the game. He was still stewing about what happened to his star, Nathan MacKinnon, in the second period.<\/p>\n

MacKinnon received a major penalty for interference on the goalie after colliding with Edmonton goalie Connor Ingram. Bednar insisted Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse pushed MacKinnon into Ingram.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no chance that he hits the goalie if Nurse doesn\u2019t run into him,\u201d Bednar said, via Avalanche reporter Jesse Montano<\/a>. \u201cI don\u2019t care if he\u2019s injured, not injured, it\u2019s a severe crash or not a severe crash. It\u2019s not a penalty. If you put guys in your own goalie, it\u2019s not a penalty. That\u2019s the way I see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bednar continued, \u201cAgain, I really don\u2019t give a crap if the goalie is hurt. That\u2019s on their D-man, not our guy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ingram left the game due to concussion protocol, according to Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch, per NHL.com<\/a>. Tristan Jarry replaced Ingram and made 12 saves to secure the victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s feeling well,\u201d Knoblauch said. \u201cObviously, that can change, but he was not allowed to come back just because of [the] concussion spotter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Edmonton is tied for second place with the Vegas Golden Knights in the Pacific Division, three points behind the Anaheim Ducks.<\/p>\n
