Officials ejected Nathan MacKinnon from the Colorado Avalanche\u2019s game Tuesday night late in the second period.<\/p>\n

MacKinnon skated hard to the net and tried to redirect a pass from Brock Nelson near the right post. He didn\u2019t and then crashed into Edmonton Oilers goaltender Connor Ingram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Oilers\u2019 goalie left the game with an injury. Edmonton defenseman Darnell Nurse made contact with MacKinnon just before he collided with the goalie.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t care if he\u2019s injured, not injured, (or) it\u2019s a severe crash, not a severe crash. It\u2019s not a penalty,\u201d Avs coach Jared Bednar said. \u201cIf you put guys into your own goalie, it\u2019s not a penalty. That\u2019s the way I see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The officials called it a major penalty for goalie interference, then confirmed the call after a lengthy review. MacKinnon was then assessed a game misconduct as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he tried to take the goalie out,\u201d Avs goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood said. \u201cHis route was good. He was mid-to-high crease and he was kind of leaned on. I don\u2019t think it was a five. Maybe a two, but I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n
