The NHL Trade Deadline passed a week ago, but teams were still able to make trades until today, though any players involved are not eligible to play for their new teams the rest of this season or playoffs. That means AHL players can still move. And the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks have pulled off a swap of forwards.<\/p>\n

The Oilers pick up Josh Bloom, a 22-year-old, 6’2″ forward who was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the third round of the 2021 NHL Draft. He spent the past three seasons splitting time between the AHL and the ECHL.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bloom was listed at No. 15 on the Canucks’ prospects list. His 2025-26 has been the story of two seasons. With\u00a0the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL, he had 15 goals and 28 points in 19 games, but since moving to the Abbotsford Canucks, he\u00a0has just one goal in 19 games.\u00a0A scouting report<\/a>\u00a0called Bloom “a relentless competitor who thrives in the gritty areas, digging for pucks and battling at the net front to create scoring chances.”<\/p>\n

Heading to the Canucks organization is Grubbe. The 23-year-old was also a third-round pick in the 2021 draft. The 6’3″ center\u00a0played with the Bakersfield Condors for two seasons before spending the current campaign in the ECHL with the\u00a0Fort Wayne Komets, where he has seven goals and 19 points in 28 games.\u00a0<\/p>\n
