MONTREAL \u2014 The San Jose Sharks have recalled goalie Laurent Brossoit from the San Jose Barracuda<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n

This move signals that Yaroslav Askarov will miss at least a little bit of time with a lower-body injury suffered on Thursday. Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky told reporters that the injury occurred while Askarov was warming up for the morning skate. Askarov was unable to dress for the San Jose Sharks\u2019 4-2 win<\/a> over the Boston Bruins<\/a>, and the team signed an EBUG for the second time this season.<\/p>\n

After the game, Warsofsky was not able to provide an update<\/a> on Askarov\u2019s status.<\/p>\n

The San Jose Sharks acquired Brossoit in a trade<\/a> with the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> on January 8th. The Sharks also acquired defenseman Nolan Allan<\/a> in the deal. <\/p>\n

With the Sharks in the hunt for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, GM Mike Grier<\/a> opted to add some goaltending depth for this exact reason. Sharks prospects Gabriel Carriere<\/a> and Jakub Skarek<\/a> have limited NHL experience. Brossoit has played 114 career regular-season NHL games and 10 playoff games.<\/p>\n

Brossoit also boosted the Barracuda\u2019s overall goaltending tremendously. Since joining the team, the new Sharks goalie is 11-2-1 and owns a .915 save %. Brossoit is making a return to hockey after a significant knee injury kept him out of the game for an extended period. He missed the entire 24-25 season.<\/p>\n
