As the Pittsburgh Penguins work to deepen their prospects pool, a trio of Penguins prospects<\/a> showed up on this week\u2019s watch lists.<\/p>\n

Among the prospects to watch for the NCAA tournament, University of Michigan forward Will Horcoff<\/a> is not on this week\u2019s NCAA watch list, but he cracked the far more prestigious TSN Top 50 affiliated prospects list<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Horcoff, 19, is a sophomore at Michigan and has been on a tear this season with 23 goals in 35 games, and had 19 goals in his first 20 games, including six game-winners. Overall, Horcoff has 36 points (23-13-36). The 24th overall pick was the team\u2019s third first-round pick (Ben Kindel 11th overall, Bill Zonnon 21st overall).<\/p>\n

The 6-foot-5, 203-pound Penguins prospect was No. 50 on TSN analyst Craig Button\u2019s top 50 prospect list.<\/p>\n

Much higher on Button\u2019s list is goaltender Sergei Murashov<\/a>, whom Button slotted as No.12. on the list. Murahsov, 21, is widely seen as the Penguins\u2019 goaltender of the future and has dominated AHL competition this season, posting a 20-7-3 record with an impressive .921 save percentage with the Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins.<\/p>\n

Murashov is the second-ranked goaltending prospect behind Detroit Red Wings prospect Trey Augustine (Michigan State), whom Button tabbed as the fifth overall prospect.<\/p>\n

To underscore the difficulty of finding goaltending, there are only five goalies on the list. Detroit prospect Sebastian Cossa (19), Utah prospect Michael Hrabal (40), and San Jose\u2019s Joshua Ravensbergen (41) are the other netminders.<\/p>\n

On the college side, 2022 Penguins fifth-round pick Zam Plante<\/a> has had quite a week. In consecutive games, he led his University of Minnesota Duluth to dramatic victories by first scoring a tying goal in the final minute, then scoring the overtime winner.<\/p>\n

UMD swept St. Cloud State University in two-games in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference quarterfinals. UMD faces North Dakota Saturday in the semi-finals.<\/p>\n
