The Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> announced on Monday (Mar. 16) that they have agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract with forward prospect Sacha Boisvert<\/a>, which runs through the 2027-28 season ($974,167 cap hit). Selected 18th overall in the 2024 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound forward is highly touted for his skill and scoring ability, but also brings a physical element to his game. Boisvert\u2019s Background<\/p>\n

Boisvert hails from Trois-Rivieres, in Quebec, Canada. He played the 2022-23 and 2023-24 season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL. He had a standout 2023-24 season with the Lumberjacks, posting 36 goals and 68 points in 61 games, and added three assists in eight playoff contests with the club. He also served as an alternate captain.<\/p>\n

From there, Boisvert attended the University of North Dakota in the 2024-25 season, posting 18 goals and 32 points in 37 games. This earned him Rookie of the Year honors. The forward then transferred to Boston University for the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n

Time at Boston University<\/p>\n

Boivert made the move to BU thinking this was a better option<\/a> for him after North Dakota\u2019s head coach, Brad Berry, was fired. Berry recruited Boisvert, and he felt a fresh start was in order. But things didn\u2019t exactly go as planned with Boston. He dealt with injuries and recorded some of the lowest stats of his young career, posting just three goals and 17 points in 26 regular season games.<\/p>\n

The 19-year-old was involved in some recent controversy, as the forward was a healthy scratch in the opening round game of the Hockey East tournament. It appears Boisvert was late to a team workout, and this wasn\u2019t the first time this had happened.<\/p>\n

What Boisvert Brings to the Blackhawks<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Boisvert is a top prospect and will receive a clean slate with the Blackhawks. Now that his collegiate career is over, he will have a chance to get a taste of the NHL before the regular season concludes. With centers Connor Bedard<\/a> and Frank Nazar<\/a> being of smaller stature, it\u2019s hoped that Boisvert can bring some size to the future center group. His 200-foot game and physical style of play<\/a> should also be an asset to the team. <\/p>\n

Boisvert and the Blackhawks are waiting for his visa to be processed, and then he will begin practicing and playing with the team. They\u2019re hoping it just takes a few days. It will be interesting to see where he slots into the current lineup. <\/p>\n
