According to David Pagnotta, the Buffalo Sabres reportedly shopped the 24-year-old netminder, and discussions are expected to intensify over the summer.

This is the kind of situation that gets people talking, especially with the raw talent this guy possesses.

Let’s be honest, seeing a local product from Quebec available on the market doesn’t leave anyone in Montreal indifferent.

The three-goalie situation in Buffalo appears to have left its mark, with Devon Levi struggling to secure a consistent role in the Sabres’ crease rotation this season.

His save percentage sits at .906 in the AHL, and his potential in the NHL remains enormous for a team in rebuilding mode or one looking to add depth.

In Buffalo, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has taken control of the crease with 51 games played.

This hierarchy inevitably pushes Devon Levi toward the exit door according to the latest information from David Pagnotta.

The Montreal Canadiens already have Samuel Montembeault, Fowler and Dobes, but the opportunity to add a top prospect is tempting.

Kent Hughes has proven in the past that he is not afraid to make moves for talent.

A risky gamble or a golden opportunity?

“The Sabres were shopping goalie Devon Levi and are expected to keep those talks going this summer.”

– David Pagnotta, The Fourth Period

However, the price asked by Buffalo is likely to be steep for a goaltender of this caliber.

The Sabres will not give up their prospect without receiving a significant asset in return, possibly a high-quality draft pick.

We know that salary cap management will be crucial for Montreal this summer.

Levi carries an affordable salary of $812,500 through the end of the current campaign.

The final decision will rest with management, but the Devon Levi file will certainly be one to watch closely in June.

Is Levi the missing piece of the puzzle in goal, or an unnecessary luxury?
