Vegas general manager Kelly McCrimmon\u2019s day with the Stanley Cup was spent in his adopted hometown of Brandon, Manitoba.<\/p>\n
He posed with the Cup at the Keystone Centre, where the Brandon Wheat Kings play, a Western Hockey League team he once owned. Behind him were two posters \u2014 one of his late brother Brad, and former Wheat Kings star Brian Propp.<\/p>\n
Brad McCrimmon was one of the Flyers\u2019 best defensemen. His partnership with Mark Howe<\/a> on the blue line might have been the Flyers\u2019 best defensive duo in history. Brad McCrimmon played in Philadelphia from 1982-87, helping the Flyers advance to the Stanley Cup finals in 1985 and 1987.<\/p>\n Brad McCrimmon died in a plane crash in September 2011. He was on a private jet carrying a Russian professional hockey team when it crashed soon after takeoff. Brad McCrimmon was 52.<\/p>\n Kelly McCrimmon brought the Cup to Brandon, where Brad played junior hockey from 1976-79. Brad won the Stanley Cup in 1989 with Calgary,<\/p>\n \u201cIt was something I thought of when we [Vegas] got to the finals that it was a possibility and certainly when we won that night, it was front and center in my mind,\u201d Kelly McCrimmon told CTV News-Winnipeg.<\/p>\n \u201cJust makes it that much more meaningful.
