Montreal Canadiens<\/a> forward Kirby Dach<\/a> will miss two-to-four weeks with an upper-body injury, the team announced on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate. You feel for the player, feel it\u2019s a lot of bad luck,\u201d said head coach martin St. Louis. \u201cI think he was playing some pretty good hockey, physical, we\u2019re going to have to try to collectively like replace that and I think we can.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old exited Sunday\u2019s game against the Anaheim Ducks<\/a> three minutes into the first period after taking a hit from Ducks\u2019 winger Jeffrey Viel. Dach fell to the ice and gingerly made his way back to the dressing room before he was ruled out for the rest of the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s been through a lot of big injuries, obviously in his career…the good news is we\u2019re gonna get him back, but, yeah, not an easy day for him, but he knows what he\u2019s got to do to get himself ready for the playoffs, and we got to do what we got to do to give an opportunity,\u2019 said Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher<\/a>.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

In Dach\u2019s absence, Alexandre Texier<\/a> skated on the third line alongside Jake Evans<\/a> and Zachary Bolduc<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Dach already missed 31 games this season due to a fractured foot he sustained in late November.<\/p>\n

The Fort Saskatchewan, Alta., native has eight goals and 14 points in 32 games this season, his fourth in Montreal.<\/p>\n

He was drafted third overall by the Chicago Blackhawks<\/a> in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and has recorded 51 goals and 135 points in 301 NHL games. Injuries have been an issue for Dach throughout his NHL career, as he has averaged just 43 games per season over his seven-year NHL career and has never played more than 70, a number he hit in 2021-22 with the Blackhawks.<\/p>\n
