However, he won\u2019t be looking for an apartment.<\/p>\n<p>He isn\u2019t staying that long.<\/p>\n<p>Though <a href=\"https:\/\/detroithockeynow.com\/2026\/02\/07\/red-wings-prospects-eddie-genborg-anton-johansson-collided-swedish-hockey-league-game\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Genborg<\/a> has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Red Wings, the player Detroit chose 40th overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft will be returning to Sweden in the fall to complete his contractual obligations with Timr\u00e5 of the SHL.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming this fact was Joakim Persson, Genborg\u2019s agent.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">UPDATE: Eddie Genborg will report to the AHL\u2019s Grand Rapids Griffins on an amateur tryout for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Genborg has been signed to a three-year, entry-level contract beginning with the 2026-27 season. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/rJaIszQCfO\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/rJaIszQCfO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Detroit Red Wings (@DetroitRedWings) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DetroitRedWings\/status\/2033306298075230579?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">March 15, 2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe flies Tuesday to finish the season with Grand Rapids,\u201d Persson told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aftonbladet.se\/sportbladet\/hockey\/a\/Wv0X8a\/eddie-genborg-blir-kvar-i-timra\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Swedish media site ST<\/a>. \u201cThen he will come home and continue his 2026\/27 season with Timr\u00e5 IK, and then join the Red Wings after the 26\/27 season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Genborg\u2019s SHL season came to an end on the weekend when Timr\u00e5 failed to qualify for the playoffs. The 18-year-old right-winger enjoyed a solid first full season in Sweden\u2019s top league. He accounted for nine goals and 16 assists. His 25-point output left him third in the league among under-20 players.<\/p>\n<p>Genborg has one year remaining on a two-year pact he signed with Timr\u00e5.<\/p>\n<p>Red Wings Followed a Similar Path With Johansson<\/p>\n<p>Persson indicated that he had confirmed with members of the Red Wings front office that the plans for Genborg\u2019s future are unchanged, even though he is now under contract with the Detroit organization.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"sv\" dir=\"ltr\">Sport <br \/>Eddie Genborg \u00e4r klar f\u00f6r Detroit. Although he signed with Detroit and finished last season in the AHL with the Griffins, Johansson returned to Leksands of the SHL in the fall after attending Red Wings training camp.<\/p>\n<p>Leksands and HV71 are ready to meet in the SHL relegation playoff.
