The Boston Bruins<\/a> (37-23-8) closed out their three-game road trip with a 3-2 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens<\/a> (37-20-10) at the Bell Centre on Tuesday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Pavel Zacha<\/a> (22) scored twice, including one on the power play, but the Canadiens fought back to keep the game tied and ended it at 4:38 of overtime.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jeremy Swayman<\/a> made 28 saves in the loss. He is now 3-1-1 in his last five starts and 11-2-2 in his career against the Canadiens.<\/p>\n

Just 25 seconds into the game, the Bruins\u2019 power play was put to the test. Alexandre Carrier<\/a> was assessed a four-minute double minor for a high stick on Tanner Jeannot<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As the first penalty was expiring, Pavel Zacha tied his career-high<\/a> in goals. He connected with his backhand to beat Jakub Dobes low-glove side.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The power play goal was Zacha\u2019s eighth of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bruins finished 1-for-4 on the power play on Tuesday and are now 5-for-39 (12.8%) since the Olympic break.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nick Suzuki<\/a> got the Canadiens on the board at the 10:30<\/a> mark of the first period.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Both teams were even at 13 shots at the end of the opening frame.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Much like the first period, the Bruins got off to a strong start, and an early goal in the second regained the lead.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The second line created the goal. Casey Mittelstadt<\/a> drove through the zone, cut back, and set up Viktor Arvidsson<\/a>, who steered it toward the crashing Pavel Zacha. The puck deflected off Zacha\u2019s stick and into the net<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With the goal, Zacha set a new career-high with 22 goals in a single season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Josh Anderson<\/a> redirected a Lane Hutson<\/a> shot to tie the game at the 13:13<\/a> mark of the second period.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bruins held a 21-20 shots advantage through two periods, though the game remained tied at two.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There was no scoring in the third period, and for the fourth straight road game, the Bruins needed overtime.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With 22 seconds remaining in the extra frame, Cole Caufield<\/a> parked himself to the left of Jeremy Swayman\u2019s net. Nick Suzuki fired a pass to the open Caufield, and he tapped in the game-winning goal.<\/p>\n

Caufield has scored in each of the last seven Bruins and Canadiens matchups.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bruins finished 2-1-1 against the Canadiens this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bruins pick up a point in the loss and move ahead of the Detroit Red Wings<\/a> in the standings. They now occupy the first wild card spot. The Blue Jackets picked up a win tonight and sit one point behind the Bruins with a game in hand.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Bruins will return home for a game on Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets (28-28-10).<\/p>\n
