Edmonton Oilers<\/a> superstar Leon Draisaitl<\/a> made a visit to his native Germany this weekend, catching a Bundesliga soccer match between powerhouse Bayern Munich and visiting Union Berlin.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old Draisaitl, who was born in Cologne, Germany, also visited the Bayern Munich locker room to chat with some of the players. <\/p>\n

Draisaitl is currently not playing with the Oilers as he\u2019s recovering from a lower-body injury that is expected to keep him out of the lineup for the remainder of the regular season. <\/p>\n

The NHL veteran spoke to Sky Sports while at the soccer game, saying he is hopeful he\u2019ll be back at some point to help the Oilers in the postseason. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt will definitely take a few weeks,\u201d he said via a translation. \u201cI hope we go far enough so I can help the team again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ben Heckner of Sky Sports reports Draisaitl was in Munich to receive treatment from sports doctor, Dr. M\u00fcller-Wohlfahrt.<\/p>\n

Oilers president and general manager Stan Bowman is hopeful Draisaitl will return for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I\u2019m] optimistic,\u201d Bowman told TSN\u2019s Gino Reda<\/a> last week. \u201cIt\u2019s only been a couple of days here. We\u2019ll have to see how well he responds to the treatment. The timeline the [doctors] gave was based on normally how long these injuries take to heal, and I don\u2019t have any reason to doubt that.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the postseason scheduled to begin the weekend of April 18-19, the injury will keep Draisaitl in the press box for at least a month.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe doctors make that decision,\u201d Bowman said on the timeline for a return. \u201cHe had some imaging done and based on the injury he has, that\u2019s the timeline. I just listen to what they say. That\u2019s what they do for a living and they know it well.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s going to be in the rehab protocol. He plays through pain, but you need to let it heal at the same time…We\u2019re obviously going to miss him but we also have to focus on the players that are healthy and able to play right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

The playoffs aren\u2019t a guarantee for the Oilers, who have fallen to the Florida Panthers<\/a> in back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals. <\/p>\n

With 12 games remaining, the Oilers sit second in the Pacific Division with a 34-27-9 record, five points ahead of the fourth place Los Angeles Kings<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Draisaitl suffered the injury on March 15 against the Nashville Predators<\/a> after taking a hit from Ozzy Wiesblatt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The left-shot forward was having another excellent season before getting hurt, netting 35 goals and 62 assists over 65 games. The injury will likely end Draisaitl\u2019s streak of four straight 100-point seasons. <\/p>\n

He also recorded two goals and five assists over five games for Germany at Milano Cortina 2026 in February. <\/p>\n

Bayern won the game 4-0 to grow their lead atop the Bundesliga table. <\/p>\n
