He\u2019ll join the AHL\u2019s San Diego Gulls on an amateur tryout agreement for the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after Anaheim\u2019s announcement, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PuckPedia\/status\/2035840128204042731\" rel=\"nofollow\">PuckPedia released<\/a> the contract details of Tr\u00e4ff\u2019s entry-level deal:<\/p>\n<p>2026-27:\u00a0$850K salary, $94K signing bonus, $85K minors salary<br \/>\n2027-28: $900K salary, $91K signing bonus, $85K minors salary<br \/>\n2028-29: $950K salary, $85K signing bonus, $85K minors salary<\/p>\n<p>Although it won\u2019t harm anything to keep a closer eye on Tr\u00e4ff in the AHL, it\u2019s a somewhat surprising development. Tr\u00e4ff is 20 years old and has managed only 36 games of experience in the SHL. Because of that, especially in a new continent, playing full-time in the AHL will serve as a large step for Tr\u00e4ff.<\/p>\n<p>Still, he likely would have earned a look in the SHL next season, regardless. He was dominant this year, scoring 23 goals and 41 points in 51 games for the HockeyAllsvenskan\u2019s IK Oskarshamn. Tr\u00e4ff\u2019s last appearance in the SHL came last season with HV71, when he scored three goals and seven points in 25 games as a 19-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, Tr\u00e4ff\u2019s season should last a little while longer. The San Diego Gulls are three points up on the Tucson Roadrunners for the final postseason spot in the AHL\u2019s Pacific Division, and have 11 games remaining to increase the gap.<\/p>\n<p>At the very least, even if the Gulls don\u2019t make the postseason this year, Tr\u00e4ff will take part in meaningful hockey right away. Still, unless he is particularly dominant down the stretch this season and at next year\u2019s preseason, Tr\u00e4ff will likely begin next season with the Gulls and remain there for some time as he continues his development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Anaheim Ducks are bringing one of their recent third-round picks to North America.
