Flyers fans, I want to start this piece off by thanking each one of you. My most recent opinion article on the Flyers chances of making the playoffs now has over 1,000 views. I joined the Flyers Nitty Gritty team back on January 2, 2025, and never thought I could reach such a high number of views. While I have written for other sports blogs, I don\u2019t recall reaching such a high view count. <\/p>\n

I can\u2019t thank you enough. If you haven\u2019t given the article I\u2019m referring to yet a read, here is the link to it: Do the Flyers still have a chance at the playoffs? \u25ba FLYERS NITTY GRITTY<\/a>. This goes to show that the city of Philadelphia truly has the best fan base in all of sports. <\/p>\n

Now for the serious part of this piece. The orange and black have a huge matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight at the Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Blue Jackets sit third in the Metropolitan Division with 85 points, and the Flyers sit fifth with 80. A win in regulation for the Flyers would get them within three points of third place in the division and the second wildcard spot. The New York Islanders currently hold that spot with 85 points, but with one more game played. <\/p>\n

Before the Flyers went out on their three-game West Coast trip, they took on the Blue Jackets at home and lost in overtime. I\u2019m sure this specific loss put a lot of doubt in many fans, as giving up two points to a team you\u2019re chasing isn\u2019t anything to be happy about. The \u201closer point\u201d wasn\u2019t anything to ride home about either. <\/p>\n

However, the West Coast trip got the Flyers back in the hunt as they took home six out of a possible six points. If they continue to play the way they are now, there\u2019s a chance the orange and black might sneak in if any team in front falters. Flyers alternate captain Travis Konecny<\/a> talks about the team gaining momentum after wins in his postgame interview after the game against the Los Angeles Kings. <\/p>\n

Head coach Rick Tocchet has confirmed that Dan Vladar will be tonight\u2019s starting goaltender. Regarding the lineup, Denver Barkey, Sean Couturier, and Luke Glendening will all be game-time decisions. All three players have been dealing with injuries. All three did, however, participate in this morning\u2019s practice.<\/p>\n

The Flyers need a win in regulation tonight. Can they get it done? Only time will tell. Let\u2019s Go Flyers!!<\/p>\n
