\u201cI\u2019m completely the opposite, I think,\u201d Lauzon said. \u201cMy wife would tell you that I\u2019m just a little softy. Everybody\u2019s kind of surprised when they meet me at first\u2026 but off the ice I\u2019m just super chill.\u201d<\/p>\n
That contrast is rooted in his upbringing in Val-d\u2019Or, Quebec, where hockey wasn\u2019t just a pastime \u2014 it was a family identity.<\/p>\n
Lauzon grew up as the oldest of four siblings, including two younger brothers who also played competitive hockey. The household was intense, competitive and, at times, chaotic.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was crazy,\u201d Lauzon said. \u201cI was the oldest, so I had it easier. I was on my two little brothers a lot. A lot of fights in the basement\u2026 but it was fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
That constant competition helped shape his style of play \u2014 one that has become a defining part of his NHL career.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we helped each other become better hockey players every year,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re still really close, so it\u2019s been awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n
The bond extends well beyond childhood. Lauzon\u2019s brothers remain among his closest confidants, and family gatherings are still filled with the same competitive spirit \u2014 just with a little more humor.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all have significant others, so it\u2019s a big table, a lot of good conversation,\u201d he said. \u201cIt gets chirpy all the time, but it\u2019s all in good fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
That same edge carries onto the ice, where Lauzon isn\u2019t afraid to step in for teammates or bring a physical spark when it\u2019s needed most. His willingness to engage and play a hard-nosed style has become a key part of his identity as a player.<\/p>\n
That balance \u2014 intensity on the ice, humility off it \u2014 continues to define Lauzon\u2019s role in Vegas. His physical presence brings energy in key moments, while his grounded personality keeps him connected to the people and experiences that shaped him.<\/p>\n
