Connor Bedard<\/a> and the Chicago Blackhawks continue their road trip against Trevor Zegras<\/a> and the Philadelphia Flyers.<\/p>\n

These two teams met right before Christmas in Chicago, with the Flyers earning the victory heading into the break. Travis Konecny<\/a> led the way for Philly with the opening goal and an assist on Noah Cates<\/a>\u2018 power play marker. Ryan Donato<\/a> cut the lead in half in the second period, before Carl Grundstrom<\/a> sealed the game for Philly with an empty net tally. Samuel Ersson<\/a> back-stopped the Flyers, stopping 20 of 21 shots for the win. Spencer Knight<\/a> collected the loss. The Hawks certainly had their opportunities and are looking to pick up a big win in this one.<\/p>\n

Blackhawks Aiming to Pick Up Back-to-Back Wins<\/p>\n

The Hawks\u2019 road trip started on the right foot with a victory against the Islanders<\/a>. The third overall selection in 2025, Anton Frondell<\/a>, made his NHL debut in the game and collected an assist on Ilya Mikheyev<\/a>\u2018s goal. However, it was Frank Nazar<\/a>\u2018s line that came through in the win. Nick Lardis<\/a>, in particular, had his best performance in a Blackhawks sweater. He got the Hawks on the board in the first and collected two assists. After Lardis and Mikheyev\u2019s goals, Tyler Bertuzzi<\/a> scored, before Nazar himself got on the board to give the Hawks a 4-1 lead. The team let up two goals, but Arvid Soderblom<\/a> shut the door on the Islanders\u2019 furious push. It was a welcome sight to see the Hawks hold onto a late lead. The club is looking for more of the same tonight.<\/p>\n

This team felt like it had a different life with Frondell in the lineup. The offence finally came through in a big way, netting three goals in the first period. The stability that Frondell brings to Chicago\u2019s forward group can not be overstated. His line with Bedard and Ryan Greene<\/a> played well, which allowed Tyler Bertuzzi and Nick Lardis to slot down and play with Nazar. This effect trickled down the entire forward group and provides a very promising sign moving forward. Additionally, youngster Sacha Boisvert is expected to make his NHL debut in this one. In the net, Spencer Knight is likely to be back in the crease tonight, but as always, be sure to check social media before puck drop for lineups and starting goaltender information.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Flyers Seeking Massive Points in Playoff Chase<\/p>\n

The Flyers have climbed back into the Eastern Conference playoff picture with some strong play of late. Their most recent matchup, however, against the Columbus Blue Jackets, was a momentary slip-up. The Flyers did a good job limiting Columbus\u2019 chances, only allowing 19 shots. Dan Vladar surrendered three goals, which snapped a personal four-game streak of surrendering two or fewer goals. Offensively, captain Sean Couturier<\/a> opened the scoring, while Jamie Drysdale<\/a> cut the Columbus lead to one in the third period. Ultimately, however, Philadelphia could not break through and earn a point. They look for a much-needed victory tonight.<\/p>\n

Coming into this matchup, the Flyers sit five points out of the second wild card spot. The team has come out strong since the Olympic break, posting a 9-4-1 record. Without question, these are massive points for the club. We saw the Hawks spoil the Islanders on Tuesday, meaning Matvei Michkov<\/a> and the Flyers are looking to avoid the same fate. They certainly have the firepower to do so. Travis Konecny, Trevor Zegras and Owen Tippett<\/a> each have over 20 goals, while Dan Vladar has been a revelation in the net, aside from Tuesday. The Blackhawks are susceptible to allowing goals, so the Flyers should have plenty of opportunities to secure a crucial two points.<\/p>\n

Game Prediction<\/p>\n

While the Hawks do give up chances, the addition of Frondell has given the club plenty of jump. Expect the Hawks to pick up another upset win.<\/p>\n
