Los Angeles sits at 28-25-18 after 71 games, with 74 points, while Vancouver sits at 21-41-8 after 70 games, with 50 points. This is the second of four meetings between the two teams. Los Angeles won their last meeting, 2-1 in overtime on November 29th. They will be well acquainted with each other as they will face each other three times in the span of 19 days.

The Kings Story

Having won only 28 games out of 71 on the season, it is insane to think that LA is still in the playoff hunt, being three points out of Stanley Cup Playoff contention at the moment. They, along with the Vegas Golden Knights, have been carried to where they are due to the “loser point” from overtime and shootouts. LA’s 18 overtime and shootout losses are tied for the most in NHL history with three other teams from years past.

While they currently are outside of the playoffs, their remaining schedule is relatively easy, with only three games against teams currently in playoff contention. They will also face the Vancouver Canucks three times in the remaining eleven games they have. One thing they need to improve in the final stretch is their goal scoring, as they sit in 29th place in the NHL in goals for per game at 2.61, just slightly above Vancouver. The addition of Artemi Panarin has increased their offensive output, as he is the only player on their roster who has more than a point per game. However, the loss of Kevin Fiala to injury after the Olympic Break has also been a blow to their forward group.

The Canucks Story

Vancouver is back to their losing ways as they have lost three in a row. They are still showing effort down the stretch and look to build more team chemistry. A big milestone was hit in their last game as Elias Pettersson scored his 500th point in his career. While he has struggled in the last few seasons, Canucks fans would hope that he can bounce back sooner rather than later.

In terms of the standings, it is almost assured that they will finish in last place. If teams in front of them gain seven more points, that would clinch the best NHL Draft Lottery odds for Vancouver. With teams directly in front of them winning their share of games lately, that last-place spot could be clinched as soon as this weekend.

Starting Goalies

Below are the projected starters for tonight’s game. Please check social media for the most updated information before locking in your daily fantasy lineups.

For Los Angeles, Darcy Kuemper should get the nod in net. In 45 games this season, he has a 17-13-13 record, a 2.66 goals-against average, and an .897 save percentage.

For Vancouver, Nikita Tolopilo should get the start. In 15 games this season, he has a 5-6-2 record, a 3.34 goals-against average, and an .892 save percentage. Kevin Lankinen has started in the last four games, so he may get a break tonight.

Prediction and Best Bets

This will likely be a low-scoring affair as the Kings thrive on low-event hockey. That is why they have found themselves in so many overtime games. It will likely be another close game tonight, with the Kings ultimately prevailing.

Prediction: Kings win 3-2.

Best Bets

To wrap things up, here are our anytime goal scorer picks. For Los Angeles, we will pick Adrian Kempe to score a goal.
