His Boston College teammate Dean Letourneau, another first round pick of the Bruins will return to The Heights for his junior season. However, there are two other Eagles who have finished the collegiate hockey careers and are set to make a decision on their next steps.

Forwards Andre Gasseau and Oskar Jellvik have completed their senior seasons and are about to decide whether to sign with the Bruins or go the route of Hagens and sign an ATO to join Providence. Both forwards are in talks with Bruins’ management and should make a decision soon.

Gasseau missed some of the 2025-26 season with a shoulder injury, but his production was steady throughout his four seasons at Boston College. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound forward improved his skating and totaled 110 points for BC with a plus-45 rating. Some question the ceiling for the California native, but there is potential for a bottom-six role in the NHL eventually. As a seventh-round draft pick, Gasseau has done well to position himself for a crack at the professional level and possesses both shooting and playmaking skills. The path for him might be signing an ATO at first to see if he can adjust to the pro game.

Oskar Jellvik was an intriguing prospect three seasons ago as a Boston College sophomore, but injuries have derailed some of his potential. After totaling 42 points in 41 games with a plus-28 rating in his second season, Jellvik played just 23 games his junior year and eight games as a senior. The 23-year-old winger is a good skater who plays hard and makes plays on the wing. The last two seasons have created some uncertainty with how he fits in the Bruins’ plans. Jellvik could also sign an ATO and see if he can compete at the pro level with durability.

The Bruins had six players on the Boston College roster this season, and three of them could be in the mix when training camp begins in the fall. Hagens seems to be a can’t miss candidate to make the team, while Gasseau and Jellvik look to earn their keep eventually. Time will tell if the Bruins can come to terms with either one or both in the coming days.

Discover more from Inside The Rink

Subscribe to get the latest posts sent to your email.

MacKinnon, Scheifele Strike Twice in Physical 3-2 Colorado Win

The last time the Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets faced off, Winnipeg came away with a gutsy 3-1 win on March 24th.
