Getty Images <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-facilities \">The Senators and the Algonquin Anishinabe Nation on Thursday confirmed that they are \u201con track for the framework of an economic partnership\u201d for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/03\/05\/finalization-of-senators-ncc-deal-for-lebreton-flats-not-imminent\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2026\/03\/05\/finalization-of-senators-ncc-deal-for-lebreton-flats-not-imminent\/\">new arena at LeBreton Flats<\/a>, according to Bruce Garrioch of the OTTAWA CITIZEN. Completing the deal would allow the Senators to \u201cclear a major hurdle to build\u201d the LeBreton Flats arena. Both parties are \u201cnow working on finalizing the memorandum of understanding\u201d and will release more details \u201cwhen the paperwork is completed.\u201d League sources said that the Senators and the First Nations group \u201cwouldn\u2019t have made the statement on Thursday if both parties didn\u2019t feel confident that they would get the MOU across the finish line.\u201d This is a deal that would \u201callow the First Nations to gain economic benefits from the club\u2019s new home,\u201d though nobody is \u201cwilling to predict\u201d when a deal might be finalized or what it will look like when it is done.
