{"id":52708,"date":"2025-05-29T15:04:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T15:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/52708\/"},"modified":"2025-05-29T15:04:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T15:04:09","slug":"jackie-redmond-disputes-rod-brindamour-disrespected-her","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/52708\/","title":{"rendered":"Jackie Redmond disputes Rod Brind&#8217;Amour disrespected her"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With his team on the brink of elimination, Carolina Panthers head coach Rod Brind\u2019Amour joined Jackie Redmond for an in-game interview during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>And for Redmond, that was enough, even if Brind\u2019Amour wasn\u2019t in the greatest of moods.<\/p>\n<p>As the Hurricanes clung to a 1-0 lead early in the first period, Redmond asked the 54-year-old head coach what message he was sending to his team based on the way the game was being officiated. And after seemingly pausing for dramatic effect, Brind\u2019Amour made it clear he wasn\u2019t happy with the whistle his team had been getting thus far in the game.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreat question,\u201d he said. \u201cThese aren\u2019t real penalties the way the series has gone. Obviously, we\u2019ve gotta stop the hitting and just go play. I mean, I don\u2019t know. I\u2019m a little frustrated, as you can tell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Redmond and Brind\u2019Amour then thanked each other and that was that.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Rod Brind\u2019Amour is not happy with the penalties so far in Game 5 \ud83d\ude33 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qFVOenr83F\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/qFVOenr83F<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NHLonTNT (@NHL_On_TNT) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NHL_On_TNT\/status\/1927887393937404197?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">May 29, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Based on Brind\u2019Amour\u2019s apparent frustration \u2014 including a dismissive handwave as he and Redmond parted ways \u2014 many interpreted the interview as him being disrespectful toward the interviewer. Taking to X on Thursday morning, however, Redmond made it clear she didn\u2019t see it that way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd anyone who says this is Brind\u2019Amour disrespecting me \u2013 he\u2019s one of nicest coaches I\u2019ve worked with. We have great relationship,\u201d she wrote. \u201cAnd disrespect would be giving me one word or not even doing the interview. MANY teams would gas the interview in THAT spot. Rod didn\u2019t. And while he obviously wasn\u2019t in the best of moods, it also seemed evident that his issues were with the way the game was being officiated as opposed to Redmond, who clearly viewed the interaction similarly.<\/p>\n<p>As for Redmond\u2019s next interview with Brind\u2019Amour, that will have to wait until next season.
