Colorado again? Why yes, the NHL schedule can be pretty weird sometimes, and the Winnipeg Jets<\/a> just happen to get that end of the script as they are set to face the league-best Colorado Avalanche<\/a> for the second straight time, this time in the Mile High City at Ball Arena.The Avalanche edged the Jets 3-2<\/a> to take the first game of the two-game set on Thursday night at Canada Life Centre. Mark Scheifele found the back of the net twice, his 33rd and 34th of the season, in his milestone night where he passed Thomas Steen for the most games played in a Jets uniform (951). His second goal of the game also set a new career high in points (88), passing the previous mark of 87 that he set last season.<\/p>\n

Nathan MacKinnon also found the back of the net twice with his league-leading 47th just 13 seconds into the third period on the power play and his 48th just over three minutes later to make it 3-1 Colorado. His second proved to be the game-winner.<\/p>\n

Winnipeg dropped two crucial points as the season winds down and they remain five points out of the playoffs. Connor Hellebuyck made 32 saves as his club now sits at 30-30-12.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re a great team and we\u2019ve got to turn around and now we\u2019ve got to go into their building,\u201d said Jets head coach Scott Arniel<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019re going to have to get inside and throw some pucks into the blue paint and look for some greasy goals because they do a good job of trying to keep you to the outside, as we try to do to them.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019ll be a mystery to determine what the Jets\u2019 lineup will look like tonight since Morgan Barron left Thursday\u2019s game and entered concussion protocol. Forwards Parker Ford and Danny Zhilkin were recalled Friday on emergency conditions.<\/p>\n

Regardless of what the lineup looks like, the Jets\u2019 mission is to grab two points as they\u2019re entering must-win territory with just 10 games left, including tonight, and only three of those remaining at home.<\/p>\n

Tonight marks the third time this month these two division rivals go head-to-head. Colorado currently leads the season series 2-1. Colorado took the first meeting 3-2 in regulation on Dec. 19, Winnipeg bounced back on March 14 with a 3-1 win, and Colorado regained the lead with Thursday\u2019s outing.<\/p>\n
