Golden Retrievers are known for their enthusiastic zest for life—whether it’s chasing tennis balls, catching frisbees, or splashing around in the water. But one pup is proving his interests go a little beyond the usual, trading in those classic favorites for something a bit more unexpected: hockey pucks.

For Drake, a Golden Retriever with a serious love for the game, watching from the sidelines simply isn’t enough.

In one of Instagram user’s @drakethepupstar latest Reels, Drake wastes no time making his way onto the ice—literally. The hockey-obsessed dog confidently lets himself through the door as if it’s part of his daily routine with no prompting or assistance from anyone. Considering his dad is Ivan Provorov of the Columbus Blue Jackets, it’s safe to say the sport runs in the family.

Set to the familiar, yet dramatic Austin Powers theme song, “Soul Bossa Nova” from Quincy Jones, we’re getting major mischief vibes watching Drake do his thing on the ice. In the next moment, Drake shows off his puck-chasing abilities on the slippery surface, eventually “splooting” across the ice in a well-timed, successful stop that would make any hockey fan smile. For someone who will never don a pair of skates, Drake’s stability and traction on the ice is actually quite remarkable.

And then comes the best part—he takes his position.

As NHL pro Provorov sends pucks his way, Drake fully embraces his role as goalie. With focused attention and playful determination, he does his best to block each shot, turning practice into his own personal game. “I guess you could say he’s a pretty good goaldie,” one viewer shared a funny dog-meets-hockey pun in the comments. It’s not just a one-time moment, either—his family regularly shares clips of him out on the ice, proving this is far more than a passing interest.

Related: Golden Retriever Bonding With Toddler Over ‘Walkies and Snacks’ Is Too Sweet to Handle

Animal Lovers and Sports Fans Unite in the Comments

“My favorite furry Blue Jacket 😍🏒,” shared one faithful fan.
