Owen Tippett put on a show Saturday night with his second hat trick of the season and the Flyers grabbed a massive win by holding off the Red Wings, 5-3, at Little Caesars Arena.<\/p>\n
Tippett has been on quite a surge and now has a team-high 27 goals. He punctuated his performance in the third period when he made a spectacular rush up the ice with the Flyers on the power play.<\/p>\n
That padded the Flyers’ advantage to 4-0. But Detroit made a furious push to cut the Flyers’ lead to one with 3:46 minutes remaining. The sudden spurt came in a span of about two and a half minutes.<\/p>\n
Sean Couturier, though, buried an empty-netter from long distance to seal the Flyers’ win. Tippett assisted the goal to finish with four points.<\/p>\n
Noah Cates scored the team’s other marker with his career-high 17th. The Flyers improved to 25-5-2 when he records a point.<\/p>\n
Rick Tocchet’s club has gone 11-3-1 over its last 15 games, a stretch in which it has allowed only 2.27 goals per game.<\/p>\n
