Milan Lucic was scratched again by head coach Jamie Russell, and on this Fife Flyers bench, that decision lands harder than any stat line.<\/p>\n

There was no official reason. That’s usually when the message is strongest.<\/p>\n

Late-season scratches don’t happen by accident. Coaches are tightening rotations and cutting anything that doesn’t fit.<\/p>\n

Lucic was brought in on December 17 to bring weight to the top nine and stability in the room.<\/p>\n

Instead, he’s watching from above the ice while a last-place team searches for answers.<\/p>\n

Fife sits 10th at 7-37-4. That record doesn’t leave room for passengers, even veterans with long NHL career.<\/p>\n

A veteran no longer untouchable<\/p>\n

This is now a pattern. Lucic was already scratched on March 1, and nothing has changed since.<\/p>\n

If anything, the situation has worsened. The Flyers just dropped their last 2 games by a combined 11-3.<\/p>\n

That kind of stretch forces a coach’s hand. Russell isn’t protecting names right now, he’s chasing effort and pace.<\/p>\n

Lucic’s game has always been built around physical play and net-front pressure. But today’s lineup looks like it’s leaning toward quicker shifts and more rotation.<\/p>\n

And when that shift happens, heavier players can fall out fast, especially if they’re not driving play.<\/p>\n

On a struggling team, reputation doesn’t buy you time. It puts you under a brighter spotlight.<\/p>\n

That’s what makes this a new low. Not just the scratch, but where it’s happening.<\/p>\n

This isn’t a playoff team managing minutes. This is a club with 112 goals for and 231 against, still trying to find any identity.<\/p>\n

And Lucic isn’t part of the solution right now.<\/p>\n

Every lineup decision from Russell is telling. Sitting a veteran like Lucic sends a clear signal to the room.<\/p>\n

Ice time has to be earned. And right now, Lucic isn’t earning it.<\/p>\n
