A day after the Grand Rapids Griffins<\/a> completed a three-games-in-three-nights sojourn, reinforcements were arriving at the AHL affiliate of the Detroit<\/a> Red Wings.<\/p>\n

Goaltender Michal Postava<\/a> was returned from the parent Red Wings. He filled in as backup to John Gibson when Detroit won Friday at Buffalo, as backup Cam Talbot<\/a> nursed a minor injury. When Talbot returned to action in Saturday\u2019s loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, Postava was no longer needed with the big club.<\/p>\n

Postava is 13-6-0 with the Griffins this season with two shutouts, a 1.86 goals-against average, and a .932 save percentage in 20 games. If he had enough minutes played to qualify (he\u2019s 97 minutes short), Postava would rank among the AHL leaders in GAA (first) and save percentage (first). Postava logged a shutout streak of 156:20 from Jan. 9-25. That stretch was 3:47 short of breaking the franchise record held by Jared Coreau in 2014-15 (160:06). He also tied a franchise record by becoming the 10th netminder in team history to post back-to-back shutouts from Jan. 17-21.<\/p>\n

In a related move, the Griffins returned goalie Carter Gylander to the ECHL Toledo Walleye.<\/p>\n

Also joining the Griffins on Sunday was defenseman Anton Johansson<\/a>. Selected 105th overall by the Red Wings in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old Johansson recently finished his SHL season with Leksand. He accumulated career-high totals in goals (five), assists (12), and points (17) in 42 regular-season games. He added 49 penalty minutes and an even plus-minus rating. Johansson ranked among the SHL U22 defensemen leaders in points (second), goals (third), and assists (second).<\/p>\n

Last season with the Griffins, Johansson contributed five assists in 11 regular-season games. He\u2019d add another helper during three Calder Cup playoff games.<\/p>\n

The Detroit Red Wings on Sunday reassigned forward Alex Doucet to the Griffins from the ECHL Walleye. In addition, the Griffins recalled forward Carson Bantle from the Walleye.<\/p>\n

Former Red Wings Pick A Wall In Finnish Playoffs<\/p>\n

The quarterfinals of Finland\u2019s SM-liiga opened on Sunday with mixed results for a pair of players with Red Wings connections.<\/p>\n

Detroit forward prospect Jesse Kiiskinen was held off the scoresheet as HPK lost 2-1 to Tappara. Meanwhile, 2020 Red Wings draft pick Jan Bednar was a wall in the net as Assat Pori upset SaiPa 3-2.<\/p>\n

That game stretched into the fourth overtime period. At 124:41, it wound up being the third-longest game in league history.<\/p>\n

SaiPa directed 123 shot attempts at the Assat goal. Bednar made 63 saves in posting the victory.<\/p>\n
