It\u2019s another edition<\/a> of Monday Night Hockey-based NHL predictions. The Calgary Flames<\/a> take on the Colorado Avalanche<\/a> in the first meeting between the two clubs this season. Both clubs are heading in different directions with the Flames trying to play out the string and the Avalanche looking to hoist the Stanley Cup.<\/p>\n

Calgary may be out of postseason contention. However, the Flames are giving a massive effort at the end of the season. The Flames are looking forward to their new arena in the next few seasons. However, they are going through some pain<\/a> at the moment.<\/p>\n

Colorado has lofty expectations and wants to get its hands on the Stanley Cup. The Avalanche haven\u2019t gotten out of the first round since hoisting the vaunted silver chalice in 2022. Picking up points and keeping momentum is important to the Avs at this point.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at the stats and storylines in this latest round of NHL predictions on Monday Night Hockey on Prime.<\/p>\n

The Flames Story<\/p>\n

Calgary may not be officially eliminated from postseason contention. However, it\u2019s very unlikely that the Flames will find a way into the playoffs. Despite this, Calgary has been playing well as of late with a 6-3-1 record in the last 10 games.<\/p>\n

Devin Cooley<\/a> is likely to get the start for the Flames but always check social media before locking in a daily fantasy starter. Cooley has a 9-9-5 and a .915 save percentage. He also has a 2.30 goals-against-average this season.<\/p>\n

The Flames have struggled to score this season with an average of 2.53 scored per game, which is second-to-last in the NHL. Mikael Backlund<\/a> leads the club with 24 assists and 30 points.<\/p>\n

The Avalanche Story<\/p>\n

While Calgary seems destined to hit the golf course at the end of the season, Colorado knows it\u2019s Stanley Cup or bus. The Avalanche are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games but are coming off a loss to the Winnipeg Jets<\/a> on Saturday. This defeat stopped a four-game winning streak.<\/p>\n

Mackenzie Blackwood<\/a> is the probable starter for the Avalanche and has solid numbers this season. Blackwood has a 21-9-1 record, 2.24 GAA, .905 save percentage, and three shutouts so far this campaign.<\/p>\n

Nathan MacKinnon<\/a> has 117 points so far this season, which is nearly more than all three of the Flames\u2019 top scorers combined. MacKinnon has 48 goals and 69 assists for 117 points.<\/p>\n

Prediction<\/p>\n

Calgary is going to give Colorado all it can handle. The Flames may not have the firepower of the Avs but will put in an honest effort. This team works hard and will make Colorado earn the two points.<\/p>\n

However, the Avalanche are a team with dreams of title. They have also been incredible at home with a 23-7-5 mark at Ball Arena.<\/p>\n

Prediction: Avalanche 4-2.<\/p>\n

Best Bets<\/p>\n

We close out NHL predictions with some prop bets of the night. The over\/under for the Flames versus the Avalanche is 6.5, and we like the under in this game.<\/p>\n

As far as individual props go, take Matthew Coronato<\/a> to get a goal for Calgary. On the Colorado side of things, take Martin Necas<\/a> to have a multiple-point night. It also may be worth a look to throw a bet on Nazem Kadri<\/a> in his first game<\/a> against one of this old teams.<\/p>\n
