Brad Marchand<\/a> is back in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 2019. But this time, it\u2019s as a member of the Florida Panthers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI definitely didn\u2019t expect to be here in this jersey,\u201d Marchand, who had an assist in the win, told TNT\u2019s Jackie Redmond after Florida\u2019s Game 5 win over the Carolina Hurricanes<\/a>. \u201cBut I\u2019m very happy I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

Marchand was traded to the Panthers in March<\/a> after spending his entire 16-year career with the Bruins.<\/a> He won one Stanley Cup while with Boston in 2011, and played in two others (2013, 2019). The veteran forward knows the opportunity to play on the NHL\u2019s biggest stage doesn\u2019t come often.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s special. When you\u2019ve been around for a while, you realize how few opportunities you have to be part of something like this,\u201d Marchand said<\/a>. \u201cJust enjoying every moment. Grateful for the opportunity.”<\/p>\n

The Panthers clinched their third straight berth to the Cup Final with their win over Carolina on Wednesday night at Lenovo Center. They erased a two-goal deficit early on and shifted the momentum.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019ve been through it before and have gone all the way, you see the different way momentum swings can happen throughout a game and how you can take advantage of that,\u201d Marchand told reporters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Marchand and the rest of the Panthers now await the outcome of the Edmonton Oilers-Dallas Stars series, and knows their job isn\u2019t done.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe haven\u2019t accomplished anything yet,\u201d Marchand said<\/a>. \u201cThe toughest team we\u2019re gonna face is coming up next. If you don\u2019t do the job there, you didn\u2019t win anything. We\u2019re excited, but it\u2019s just like any other round. There\u2019s a huge job to do moving forward and we have to prepare for that now.\u201d<\/p>\n
