As soon as he put pen to paper Sunday, it was made clear that the Flyers are going to try to get him to make his debut fairly quickly, but he needed to make his student visa, from his year at Michigan State, to a work visa — and all the other paperwork, as well as getting cleared by the Flyers’ doctors. Martone was basically thrown through a Seussian contraption with paper flying everywhere and getting poked and prodded to make sure he’s eligible to get on the ice.

Flyers prospect Porter Martone’s NHL debut date is set

There has been no official word from head coach Rick Tocchet or general manager Danny Briere to make it 100% without a shadow of a doubt that Martone is going to be on the ice Tuesday night, but one has to imagine that if all the housekeeping is done, then it will happen. The only possibility as to why he won’t be in the lineup is to get him in some more NHL practice time and get him familiar with the team.

The Flyers did not hold an official team practice Monday, but Martone joined the regular healthy scratches — Garrett Wilson and Noah Juulsen — and fellow winger Tyson Foerster as he’s on his path to recovery from a lengthy injury. All four skaters were on the ice in Voorhees, surrounded by onlookers and fans, as they had a much more relaxed skate than anything that would be considered a full practice led by Tocchet.

That little skate-around could very well serve as the practice time that Martone gets to have with some Flyers supervision, and then will be getting the morning skate on Tuesday before being officially a part of the lineup.

We will be getting confirmation from Tocchet in the afternoon, or at least we could just look at what the forward lines are at morning skate and make the obvious conclusion whether or not Martone will be in the game.

No matter where Martone is in the lineup, he will certainly have a spotlight on him as only Matvei Michkov’s debut last season could even come close to rivaling this moment for Flyers fans. It’s hard not to be extremely excited about the potential to add a talent like Martone’s after watching him score 25 goals and 50 points in 35 games for the Spartans this year and look like one of the best players in the entire country while doing so.

While it has been whispered and pondered on and speculated, there is at least now more reputable confirmation…

[5112
1468,5,4,1467,56,5205
0":"post-532049","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-philadelphia-flyers","8":"tag-flyers","9":"tag-hockey","10":"tag-nhl","11":"tag-philadelphia","12":"tag-philadelphia-flyers","13":"tag-philadelphiaflyers
["GET
