It didn\u2019t take long for the Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> to address the Radko Gudas<\/a> situation in Monday\u2019s game.<\/p>\n

Forward Max Domi<\/a> dropped the gloves with Gudas early in the opening period, landing several uppercut punches before taking Gudas to the ice. This comes two and a half weeks after Gudas\u2019 knee-on-knee hit on Auston Matthews<\/a> resulted in a Grade 3 torn MCL and ended his season.<\/p>\n

Both players were given five-minute majors for fighting.<\/p>\n

Gudas left last Thursday\u2019s game against the Calgary Flames<\/a> with a lower-body injury and did not play Saturday in Edmonton. But the Ducks captain said before puck drop Monday that he wanted to answer the bell against Toronto.<\/p>\n

\u201cStand behind my own mistakes,\u201d Gudas said via TSN\u2019s Mark Masters<\/a>. \u201cI want to address it myself, so that\u2019s one of the reasons, 100 per cent. That\u2019s one of those games where I have to play.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also said he was expecting fireworks on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it\u2019s addressed early in the game everybody can, I don\u2019t want to say relax a little bit, but everybody knows that the thing is going to [be] addressed,\u201d Gudas said. \u201cI would assume something like that\u2019s going to happen again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gudas received a five-game suspension for the hit on Matthews, though several Leafs players and head coach Craig Berube<\/a> felt the punishment should have been more severe. <\/p>\n

Berube also criticized the Leafs\u2019 lack of response to the initial hit on March 12. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe all kind of saw the media after that game, so we know that it\u2019s going to be an emotional game out there,\u201d said Ducks rookie Beckett Sennecke<\/a> via Masters. <\/p>\n
