{"id":532366,"date":"2026-03-31T06:08:47","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T06:08:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/532366\/"},"modified":"2026-03-31T06:08:47","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T06:08:47","slug":"suzukis-two-goals-lift-canadiens-past-hurricanes-in-fifth-straight-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/532366\/","title":{"rendered":"Suzuki&#8217;s two goals lift Canadiens past Hurricanes in fifth straight win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>RALEIGH, N.C. \u2014 Nick Suzuki scored two goals and had an assist to lead the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/hockey\/nhl\/teams\/montreal-canadiens\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"montreal-canadiens\" data-league=\"nhl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Montreal Canadiens<\/a> to a 3-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Suzuki fueled a three-goal second period for the Canadiens, who have won five straight and won all three regular-season games against the Eastern Conference-leading Hurricanes.<\/p>\n<p>Cole Caufield added a goal and assist for Montreal and goalie Jakub Dobes made 34 saves in his third win of the season over the Hurricanes.<\/p>\n<p>Andrei Svechnikov scored for the Hurricanes, and Frederik Andersen stopped 15 shots.<\/p>\n<p>Suzuki tied the game 1-1 by beating a diving Sean Walker to the net at 6:18 in the second period.<\/p>\n<p>After a Dobes\u2019 glove save on Jordan Staal with 3:13 left in the period, Caufield made it 2-1 after Suzuki drew two defenders to the left circle and gave Caufield a clean look at Andersen.<\/p>\n<p>Montreal scored on the power play after a tripping penalty was called on Eric Robinson with 15 seconds left in the period.<\/p>\n<p>Suzuki leads the Canadiens with 91 points. He has five goals and 12 assists in the past 10 games as Montreal vies for position in a tight playoff race in the Atlantic Division.<\/p>\n<p>Svechnikov gave the Hurricanes a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 8:37 in the first period.
