He gave us good shifts, he had to defend in our zone, and he did that. He went on the forecheck, he delivered hits. I appreciate that he’s able to do that, and I’m confident he can give us good minutes if he has to play up front.”

– Martin St-Louis, via TVA Sports

Martin St-Louis explains why Arber Xhekaj was used at forward and what comes next

St-Louis now says he has full confidence in Xhekaj’s ability to provide quality minutes at forward when needed.

Interestingly, Martin St-Louis admitted he made this decision for a very specific reason.

He did not want to disrupt his current defensive unit, which has been playing very strong hockey lately.

For Arber Xhekaj, this temporary role represents an excellent way to continue contributing regardless.

It remains to be seen whether this successful experiment will encourage the organization to repeat the strategy in upcoming games—or even in the playoffs.

Previously on Montreal Hockey Fanatics

POLL

MARS 30|1156 ANSWERS

Martin St-Louis praises Arber Xhekaj after forward role experiment vs Hurricanes

Should Martin St-Louis continue using Arber Xhekaj as a forward?

Martin St-Louis praises Arber Xhekaj after forward role experiment vs Hurricanes …

[3
407,29,6605,5,783,412,21,4
0":"post-532811","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-nhl","8":"tag-arber-xhekaj","9":"tag-carolina-hurricanes","10":"tag-forward","11":"tag-hockey","12":"tag-josh-anderson","13":"tag-martin-st-louis","14":"tag-montreal-canadiens","15":"tag-nhl
["GET
