After being on the losing end in six of seven games, the <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/nhl\/vegas-golden-knights\/golden-knights-news-vegas-bruce-cassidy-john-tortorella-playoff-push\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golden Knights fired coach Bruce Cassidy<\/a> and replaced him with <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/tag\/john-tortorella\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">John Tortorella<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now, <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/tag\/mark-stone\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Stone<\/a> is attempting to explain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/news\/golden-knights-embrace-late-switch-to-john-tortorella\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">what happened to cause the demise<\/a> of Cassidy, but is not coming up with answers, according to Paul Delos Santos of NHL.com.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe weren\u2019t playing with that same emotion that we normally do,\u201d Stone said. \u201cEarly on, we\u2019re not starting with that emotion. That\u2019s probably the mindset going forward is to start the game cleanly with that kind of emotion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Stone said the team lacked emotion and even said the message had become \u201ca little stale,\u201d he was surprised by the timing of the move in the midst of a playoff race.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s different. I\u2019ve never been through this time of the year, but it\u2019s a new energy,\u201d Stone said of the change. \u201cIt\u2019s a new voice. \u2026 We have a good team. We have good players. So I think he\u2019s excited to see what he can do with us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the day, though, the results fall on the players, and Jack Eichel knows that they need to play better overall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt always falls on the players at the end of the day, we\u2019re the ones that go out there and perform every night,\u201d Eichel said. \u201cWe\u2019re all grown men and should be able to go out there and do your job now. It just seemed like our energy and some of our spirit had been lost a little bit recently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first game of the Tortarella era in Vegas got off to a successful start, with the Golden Knights taking a 4-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks. They will have seven more games under the new coach before the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/nhl\/nhl-stories\/clutchpoints-nhl-power-rankings-week-22-presidents-trophy-race-tightening-up\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Golden Knights are 33-26-16 on the seaso<\/a>n, good for third in the Pacific Division. They also have a six-point lead on the Los Angeles Kings in the playoff race.
