Former Ontario Hockey League player Jacob Winterton, who is the brother of Seattle Kraken center Ryan Winterton, has died. He was 25.<\/p>\n

Some days will be harder than others, but I\u2019ll hold on to the love, the lessons, and the memories you left me with. You\u2019ll always be a part of me, in everything I do. Forever loved, forever missed.\u201d<\/p>\n Jacob Winterton played for the Flint Firebirds and Oshawa Generals during his time in the OHL.<\/p>\n He played for the Firebirds in 2018-19 and Generals in 2019-20.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Across the two seasons, he played in more than 125 games, finishing with 18 goals and 19 assists.<\/p>\n After his time in the OHL, Jacob played for the University of Guelph.<\/p>\n \u201cThe OHL is saddened by news of the passing of former Flint Firebirds and Oshawa Generals forward Jacob Winterton, taken far too soon following a battle with cancer at the age of 25,\u201d the OHL said in a statement. \u201cThe OHL sends thoughts and condolences to the Winterton family, as well as Jacob\u2019s friends during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n Ryan Winterton is in his third season with the Seattle Kraken.
