As Cameron Knupp reports from KeyBank Ice Center, the Sabres took down the Islanders 4-3 Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

However, former Erie Otter and 2025 NHL draft number one overall pick Matthew Schaefer was able to reach 57 points during his rookie season with an assist for New York.<\/p>\n

With that assist, Schaefer passed Stefan Persson\u00a0(1977-78) for most points by a rookie defenseman in franchise history.<\/p>\n

Schaefer has scored 22 goals on the season and continues to give his Islanders a chance to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs.<\/p>\n

Knupp caught up with Schaefer post game on top of talking to fans and a former teammate of Schaefer\u2019s pregame.<\/p>\n

The Sabres reached 100 points for the first time in a season since 2009-10 and reached 2,000 wins for the franchise.<\/p>\n
