The Buffalo Sabres<\/a> have reached heights that wouldn’t have seemed possible earlier this season.<\/p>\n

On the final day of March, the Sabres beat the New York Islanders<\/a>, 4-3. In the process, they reached 100 points for the season.<\/p>\n

The Tuesday night victory made it the first time since 2009-10 that the Sabres reached 100 points in one season.<\/p>\n

It’s still hard to believe that the Sabres have reached this point after a mediocre start to the season made it look like yet another season of disappointment in Buffalo.<\/p>\n

There isn’t a soul in western New York complaining, though. The Sabres are the talk of the town.<\/p>\n

This is a franchise that has missed the postseason in 14 consecutive seasons. It’s not looking like it’ll be 15, though.<\/p>\n

The Sabres will have plenty of opportunity to clinch a playoff spot, but the first one comes on Thursday against the Ottawa Senators<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The math is simple: If the Sabres win against the Senators, they are heading to the playoffs for the first time since the 2010-11 season.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, there are no good explanations. There’s just magic.<\/p>\n
