{"id":535396,"date":"2026-04-01T21:13:57","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T21:13:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/535396\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T21:13:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T21:13:57","slug":"flyers-sign-david-jiricek-to-2-year-extension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nhl\/535396\/","title":{"rendered":"Flyers Sign David Jiricek to 2-Year Extension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just three weeks ago, the primary move by the <a href=\"https:\/\/973espn.com\/tags\/philadelphia-flyers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Philadelphia Flyers<\/a> at the trade deadline involved acquiring a young defenseman in need of more development to reach his potential. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/jiricda01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=973espn.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-01_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">David Jiricek<\/a>, the former sixth overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, will remain with the Flyers organization.<\/p>\n<p>Jiricek, 22, signed a two-year contract extension on Wednesday with a $1.5 million AAV.<\/p>\n<p>Jiricek has appeared in 10 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms since being acquired in a trade that sent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/b\/brinkbo01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=973espn.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-04-01_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bobby Brink<\/a> to Minnesota. He has two goals and 10 points in that time.<\/p>\n<p>Jiricek has 84 career NHL games with Columbus and Minnesota. He has two goals and 13 points in his NHL career.<\/p>\n<p>The 6&#8217;4&#8243; defenseman is expected to remain with the Phantoms for the majority of the remaining schedule, including potential playoff games for Lehigh Valley.
