The first goal awarded to the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Montreal Canadiens last night is drawing frustration from observers.<\/p>\n

On the ice, the referee chose to ignore an infraction that nonetheless appeared absolutely obvious.<\/p>\n

Matt Drake posted the sequence directly on his social media, as seen below, and the footage clearly shows Gage Goncalves illegally holding Noah Dobson with his stick.<\/p>\n

A clear and extremely obvious penalty that directly allowed the Lightning to score!<\/p>\n

A hook that completely neutralized the Montreal Canadiens player near his own net.<\/p>\n

The Tampa Bay Lightning quickly took advantage of that opening to grab the lead in the game.<\/p>\n

NHL officials criticized as Tampa Bay goal stands despite clear missed hook<\/p>\n

At TVA Sports, journalist Anthony Martineau also called out this unacceptable situation.<\/p>\n

According to his analysis, that first goal by Tampa Bay should never have counted.<\/p>\n

“The referees in this league have a serious consistency problem.<\/p>\n

I think the coach will approve of that one.”<\/p>\n

It could have completely changed the course of the game.<\/p>\n

Goncalves with the world’s most obvious hook on Dobson to prevent him from defending.<\/p>\n

We’ll allow that despite calling everything else under the sun.<\/p>\n
