The Maple Leafs have lost Anthony Stolarz again.<\/p>\n
The Toronto Maple Leafs<\/a> continue their trudge toward the end of the 2025-26 NHL regular season, which will end without a spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2016.<\/p>\n While they remain mathematically alive for the time being, it won\u2019t be long before their reservation on the outside looking in at the postseason is officially confirmed.<\/p>\n The Maple Leafs are on the west coast and will take on the San Jose Sharks on Thursday evening. However, a near-disaster struck their team hotel: an earthquake.<\/p>\n The Toronto Maple Leafs\u2019 Team Hotel In San Jose Was Struck By An Earthquake<\/p>\n Veteran Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly admitted that he was \u201crattled\u201d by the experience, but not for the reason you might think. He said he\u2019s actually disappointed that the alert on his phone didn\u2019t wake him up because, as he put it, he\u2019s always wanted to feel an earthquake.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m rattled, I was woken up to the alert on my phone, and I was pissed I didn\u2019t wake up, because I\u2019ve always wanted to feel one,\u201d Rielly said<\/a>. \u201cA few of the guys did, but I did not unfortunately. I was snoozing pretty hard.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked if it was a hot topic of discussion amongst the players during practice, Rielly said that at least half of the players were woken up by the phone alerts.<\/p>\n \u201cA little bit, we were all like, \u2018Oh, did you feel it?\u201d I feel like it\u2019s 50-50 on whether guys woke up.<\/p>\n \u201cObviously pretty crazy, first time doing that,\u201d said Easton Cowan. \u201cPretty shocking, honestly. I didn\u2019t really know, I just kind of looked out of my door to see what was up, and went back to bed, but found out this morning.\u201d<\/p>\n There is one player on the Maple Leafs, forward Steven Lorentz, who has previously experienced an earthquake. Lorentz played for the Sharks in 2022-23, and this wasn\u2019t his first go-around.<\/p>\n \u201cIt woke me up, and I thought the whole place was coming down, but fortunately it\u2019s not my first one here,\u201d said Lorentz. \u201cIt\u2019s kind of weird like that. I don\u2019t want to say that it\u2019s cool because it\u2019s kind of scary, but I guess I\u2019m an earthquake survivor again.\u201d<\/p>\n However, one figure on the Maple Leafs who admitted he didn\u2019t feel a thing and was surprised to find out about the event in the morning was head coach Craig Berube.<\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t, no clue, I was out,\u201d Berube explained. \u201cGuys told me this morning, and I was like, \u201cReally?
